It's been a busy few weeks. I hope you all enjoyed the school concert. 5th Grade practiced very hard with their songs and especially with playing their recorders.
Advent: Each Monday we have participated in an all-school Advent Prayer Service. During religion class Ms. Healy has been preparing the students for Christmas by reading and discussing the Advent Sunday Gospels.
In Math class we have been reviewing division by one digit. After the break, we will learn how to divide by two digits.
We finished another class novel - Bridge to Terabithia and watched the film version. It was fun to watch how the movie makers interpreted the magic of Terabithia and made it come alive with special effects.
The students have been learning and researching reports about the famous explorers of the 1400s-1600s, including Magellan and Columbus,

Bible Presentation
Fr. Paul and Fr. Jose Maria kindly presented our students in 4th through 8th grade with their own personal Bibles. 5th Grade will keep their Bibles in class for use during religion time. However, they are very welcome to take them home to read at night, especially now that we will soon begin studying the stories of St. Luke.

Red Ribbon Week
This past week we celebrated Red Ribbon Week. This is a celebration held to honor all those who continue daily to fight against drugs in our neighborhoods and throughout the world. The students designed posters, entitled Drug Free is the Key, attended a Prayer Service, received red lollipops, and had a "Red" dress-down day. Officer Medina who leads the Dare Program for 5th Grade visited on Thursday to talk to the all the students about the dangers of taking drugs.
